About Us

Our practice has been caring for people in Selby and the surrounding area for almost 25 years. In that time we have grown in size - today we have more than 10,000 patients on our list. We have a higher than usual proportion of our patients who are children or young adults.

We have a modern approach to health care and strive to be friendly and down to earth. Finding your way through the health service can sometimes be a baffling experience and we aim to make it as easy as possible for you.

At Scott Road we have an experienced team of 10 Doctors and 5 Nurses as well as a full complement of support staff committed to offering you the best care possible in a friendly and comfortable, but at the same time, professional environment. We offer a carefully calculated combination of same-day and pre-bookable appointments and a number of special clinics including those for: new babies; patients who need ‘flu vaccinations; patients with Diabetes. There is also a regular Thursday afternoon minor surgery session at Selby War Memorial Hospital.

The medical centre is designed to accommodate everyone. There’s ample, free parking by the surgery or in the Community Centre car park, bike racks and ramped access to the building. Once inside all consulting rooms are on the ground floor and we have three waiting areas: the main one for patients waiting to see a Doctor, one for those seeing a Nurse and a third for those who have an appointment with the Health Visitor or Midwife. We have an appropriate number of toilets, 2 of which are adapted for those with disabilities.

There is a pharmacy next door which provides many of our patients with an excellent local service.

We have been teaching students at Scott Road for many years and currently teach Year 3 and Year 5 students from our local medical school, the Hull-York Medical School (HYMS).

Violence and Intimidation Prevention

Staff working in Primary care should not have to experience abuse, threats or violence while at work. Any form of violence, aggression, threats or abuse is totally unacceptable.

Any patient being abusive, threatening or aggressive towards our staff will be removed from our practice list. We will also consider involving the police and taking legal action.

We will not allow the tiny minority of people who indulge in this behaviour to intimidate our staff or to disturb other patients.
