Blood Pressure

If you have raised blood pressure, then please see this link for advice about blood pressure and important things you can do to help control it.

If you are not known to have high blood pressure and you’ve not had your blood pressure checked in the last five years please make an appointment with our health care assistant to get a check.

We monitor and treat high blood pressure to help prevent strokes and heart attacks. It is only by actually measuring the pressure we can know whether it is okay or not as most people don’t have any symptoms from their blood pressure until it is too late.

If you are already on treatment for high blood pressure it is prudent to have it checked every six months or so and more often if the readings are high. Patients on treatment should make sure, if we haven’t arranged it for you, to have your cholesterol and kidney function tested once a year too, and if you are not diabetic to have a diabetes screening test once a year too.

We know of at least one patient who had high blood pressure but didn’t get it checked regularly and has sadly since had a stroke. Don’t let that happen to you. To make an appointment phone 01904 724400.
