Talking Therapies

Talking therapies, or psychological therapies are effective and confidential treatments delivered by fully trained and accredited NHS practitioners.

They can help people over 16 with common mental health problems like stress, anxiety and depression. 

 

Stop Smoking Services

Local stop smoking services are free, friendly and can boost your chances of quitting for good. 

These services staffed by expert advisers who will give you information, advice and professional support during the first few months you stop smoking.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)

CAMHS offers individual therapy and groups to children and young people, up to the age of 18, who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health problems.

Children and young people may be struggling with how they feel about themselves which may affect their relationships and ability to do things they enjoy. They may be feeling very low, worried, anxious, hurting themselves and/or having thoughts of wanting to die.

CAMHS undertake Autism Spectrum Condition and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessments where there is enough evidence from parents and schools/other professionals.

Referrals can be made by parents and health professionals.

Mental Health Crisis

If you, or someone you know, is experiencing a mental health crisis, call NHS 111 and select Option 2 (Mental Health).

This is a freephone line open 24/7.

If you are deaf or have hearing loss please use NHS 111 – SignVideo or the 18001 111 Relay UK app.

Other ways to get help with your mental health

Free listening services.

These services offer confidential support from trained volunteers. You can talk about anything that's troubling you, no matter how difficult:

  • Call 116 123 to talk to samaritans, or email: jo@samaritans.org for a reply within 24 hours
  • Text "SHOUT" to 85258 to contact the Shout Crisis Text Line or text "YM" if you're under 19

If you're under 19, you can also call 0800 1111 to talk to childline. The number will not appear on your phone bill.

These services will only share your information if they are very worried about you or think you are in immediate danger.

Primary Care Weight Management Services - Mounjaro

In Humber and North Yorkshire, the NHS have launched a new community-based weight management service provided by community pharmacies. Through this service Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) will be available to patients who meet the eligibility criteria set out below.

Who is eligible for treatment?

To be eligible for treatment, all of the below must apply:

  • You must be aged 18 or over
  • Have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 or more (or ≥ 37.5 for people with South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African or African-Caribbean ethnic backgrounds)
  • You must have FOUR out of the FIVE diagnosed long-term conditions listed below:
    • Cardiovascular disease
    • Hypertension
    • Dyslipidaemia
    • Obstructive sleep apnoea
    • Type-2 diabetes

How do I get treatment?

To receive treatment you must be willing to agree to the below:

  • You agree for us to have access to your medical record
  • You are willing to travel to your first appointment
  • You understand that you need to provide appropriate identification at your first appointment
  • You agree to commit to a 9-month ‘wrap around care’ treatment plan which offers advice on lifestyle, diet and exercise
